It’s benchmarking season at Infohrm – don’t be surprised if you see loads of flying pigs being shot out of the sky (no pun towards swine flu intended).
So why the wingless pigs? During benchmarking season, a lot of the pigs released by our favourite type of journalist – the sensationalist – are shot down by Infohrm’s Member data. The reality is exposed, pigs sent to the swill.
So what’s one of the biggest porkies that’s been flyin’ around? That the global financial recession means organisations have a decreased headcount.
Not so in Australia!
Our Net Recruitment Ratio – the metric that tells whether you are recruiting more people than you are losing – shows a drop in 2008, meaning headcount reductions, but quite a big jump in Q1 2009, indicating a growing headcount.
We have delved further into this and see a remarkable increase in the amount of part time workers – this is obviously a contributing factor but I wonder if there are other factors?
How has your organisation been affected?
Next week, I’m going to find out whether the retirement age has increased due to everyone’s super (for the Americans in the audience, this is equivalent to your 401K) going bust. Stay tuned!
